Dr. Al Pollard named as School Superintendent

After a search that began in September, the Pulaski County Board of Education has named Dr. Al Pollard as the Superintendent of Pulaski County Schools. The Board of Education was impressed with Dr. Pollard’s variety of experiences and his skills and success in the areas of curriculum and instruction.  Dr. Pollard will begin work on July 1, 2017.

Dr. Pollard is presently Principal at Peach County High School, Fort Valley, Georgia.  He has several years of administrative experience in the state of Georgia, having served as a high school principal, middle school principal, director of alternative education, athletic director, head football coach, head baseball coach, assistant principal and science teacher.  Additionally, Dr. Pollard was an assistant football coach at Georgia Southern University and a graduate assistant at the University of Georgia.

Dr. Pollard is a graduate of The University of Georgia with a B.S. Degree in Zoology.  He also has a Master’s Degree in Administration and Management from Nova Southeastern University and an Ed. D. in Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Ms. Kay Dawson, former Chair of the Board of Education, stated, “We are delighted to have Dr. Al Pollard as our next superintendent.  The Board has been very deliberate and thorough during the search process, and I appreciate how well the Board has worked together.”
